Flu season is here and it's taking a toll.
Lane Holbrook, a doctor at MedExpress, warned parents why it's necessary to keep your kids home when they aren't feeling well.
"Parents need to realize, your kids are sick, we don't want to get everyone else sick and want to keep things as localized as possible," said Holbrook.
With cold weather often comes a runny nose or cough, Holbrook said when kids start to complain of more than just those symptoms, it's best to stay home from school.
"Your nose is gonna run, things are gonna happen this time of year it's cold outside, that's normal. Fever, if your child has a fever over 100.5 keep them home," said Holbrook.
If a child is diagnosed with the flu, Holbrook typically urges one week to be taken off from school. He also explained to wash hands often or carry hand sanitizer as that can stop from spreading germs.
